New York has long been envisioned as a magical place, and that’s still the case today. It’s one of the many reasons The Great Gatsby is regularly named one of the greatest novels ever written. Its pages are overflowing with grandeur, glitter, and old New York allurement—sensations supermodel Kate Bock wanted to conjure for her wedding to Kevin Love

Set against the iconic backdrop of The New York Public Library on Saturday, June 25, the wedding took place in front of the couple’s families and friends. The historic space was transformed into a black and white, Gatsby-inspired ball—with the city itself as inspiration. “New York is such a special place for us,” Kate Bock wrote to Editorialist. “I had classic New York architecture on my board, which is why the New York Public Library was the perfect spot for us to get married. It is so iconic to the city and is a historic landmark. My board was also largely black and white photos, so it only made sense to ask my guests to don their best black and white looks for the occasion.”

We corresponded with Bock after the big day to snoop on her beauty tips and tricks, little event details that pulled the weekend together, and her inspirations behind it all.

On how her and Love met:

“We met in 2015. Both Kevin and I shot with the same photographer. He sort of played ‘matchmaker.’ We separately saw each other’s photos that the photographer shot and both were interested in one another. Through the photographer, we were able to get each other’s contact info and connect. While I don't necessarily believe in love at first sight because I believe you need to get to know someone before you love them, it sort of worked out that way for us.”

On her pre-wedding skincare regime:

"I made sure to take special care of my skin leading up to the big weekend so my makeup artist Lisa Aharon could help me achieve a perfect glowy, sun-kissed look. Every day, I start by cleansing my face with Dr. Barbara Sturm Foaming Cleanser. It’s my absolute favorite. Then, to get a subtle glow, I use Vintner's Daughter essence and serum. I have been using it for a long time and feel like it really works! I then follow with the Dr. Barbara Sturm Hyaluronic Acid Serum for more moisture and the Vanish Airbrush Prime by Hourglass. For an eye cream, my derm and facialist both recommend Skin Science Eye cream. I think a good eye cream is really important especially since skin around the eyes is quicker to show aging. Lastly, I use Supergoop! Unseen Sunscreen, which goes on so naturally and smoothly. It makes your makeup look great! Outside of my morning skincare routine, I get facials with Cynthia Rivas frequently. She uses Biologique Recherche on me, and I love its high-quality ingredients. I also use my dermatologist's prescribed night cream. I go to Dr. Bhanusali. He created an incredibly high-performing custom cream for me. It works like magic.”

On her wedding weekend looks:

On Friday at our rehearsal dinner, I wore an Oscar de la Renta look with Stuart Weitzman shoes. For the ceremony, I worked with the Ralph Lauren team to design my dream dress. I was inspired by Grace Kelly’s wedding dress. It had intricate lace and beading with dramatic long sleeves, a high neck, and an open back. It was absolute perfection—truly a work of art. We worked together for months on it and tweaked our direction a few times, but we just knew once we hit the perfect design. For the reception, I changed into a Danielle Frankel look that was very old-Hollywood glam. A silk, off-the-shoulder long-sleeved gown that draped just perfectly. I also had special Danielle Frankel X Manolo Blahnik shoes that matched the dress perfectly. The dress allowed me to move throughout the night and fit the style of our wedding so perfectly. For the after-party, I opted for a different Danielle Frankel design—this time a minidress with a tulle overlay. It was so playful and fun while still being classic and elegant. I paired it with the cutest Jimmy Choo heels. I danced the night away until the early hours wearing that one!”

On her accessories:

“I knew I wanted everything to be classic and timeless to accompany my Ralph Lauren and Danielle Frankel old-Hollywood glamour looks, so Tiffany & Co. was just perfect. The vintage diamond earrings Kevin gifted me were the perfect accessory to wear through the whole weekend. I love them so much!”

On special wedding jewelry:

Tiffany & Co. lent us jewelry for the weekend. I wore a variety of beautiful necklaces, bracelets, and rings throughout the weekend. Kevin even accessorized his Ralph Lauren tuxedo with archived Tiffany & Co. lapel pins and studs. Very dapper, old Hollywood. My favorite piece was the earrings Kevin surprised me with. I had included a pair of gorgeous diamond earrings from the 1920s on one of my mood boards. On the Friday before the wedding, Kevin surprised me with them, and I wore them to every event throughout the weekend.”

Bock and Love are still glowing from the entire weekend. “It’s so exciting to be finally married,” she exclaims, “It has been such a whirlwind! We can’t believe it’s over, and we wish we could have lived through every moment for even longer! The whole weekend was more than perfect—the venue was incredible, the decor was stunning and the love surrounding us from our family and friends was more than we could have even imagined. Take us back!”
