I've been in the market for a new everyday bag for the better part of two seasons. As a former Chanel 19 girl that struggled with its lack of structure, I'm on the hunt for something that's sturdy, sleek, and utterly sophisticated. I didn't have to look hard, of course—Celine's Triomphe bag was everywhere I looked, ticking every box.
Before taking the $3,000-plus plunge, I decided to take stock of all its attributes—examining it for size, durability, wearability, and overall style factor. Keep reading for our full play-by-play on every French girl's favorite It-bag.
About the Bag
In just four years since its debut, the Triomphe has been spotted on every celebrity and fashion insider's arm. Its smooth leather exterior and minimalistic hardware has been lauded by bag collectors and fashion historians for its simple, yet sophisticated feel. The crossbody reconciles fashion and function using Celine's signifier, a golden Triomphe logo fastener.
Since creative director Hedi Slimane launched it in 2018, Celine has released a series of spinoffs—including this summer's popular Cuir Triomphe bag, wielding a chain strap, and the slenderized Trapeze, which is new in for Fall 2022. What's more: It did so with plenty of room to spare. I so loved the accordionlike interior, which features a slender front pouch that neatly fit my smartphone. This was one of three inner compartments, all of which are lined with lambskin to keep possessions scratch-free.

How I Wore It
I asked my fellow editors to help me style the Celine Triomphe—all of which further proved its versatility. Fashion and Beauty Editor Cortne Bonilla (left) and I had the same idea, styling the curvaceous Besace Triomphe with silk blouses and jeans for a Friday-at-the-office look. Our Market Editor Katelyn Bernard (right) opted for a little black dress and Chanel slingbacks. All around, the Triomphe shone bright, adding an elegant undertone to each ensemble.
